Join me for this fun and breezy evening workshop where we’ll create printed banners using one of the cornerstone recipes of natural dyeing - the iron/tannin reaction! This will give us the ability to create dark gray prints on a cream background.
I have a custom-created font of 6” tall lettering which we will use. Each letter will be printed separately! Come with your statement in mind - as well as snacks and beverages for a fun evening! Your message should be under 24 characters and be spaced on no more than 4 lines. I’ll provide all the fabric and materials necessary for the class.
This is meant as a social and fun evening with a dash of natural dye instruction - we’ll briefly discuss the process and recipes for block printing with mordants and you’ll have the opportunity to get your hands dirty (or wear gloves if you choose) printing each letter onto fabric yourself! I’ll provide all the necessary materials!
We will be learning about the process from 6:30-7:00, printing until 8:00 then dyeing and finishing works until 8:30, then cleaning our messes!
As always, if you’re interested in attending as a photographer or videographer, I have complimentary spots available if you’re willing to share the images with me for use on my instagram, website or promotion for future classes. I can never get it together to teach and document the classes at the same time!
