Explorations in Chintz: A Rainbow of Natural Dyes
At Marshfield School of Weaving : 334 Jake Martin Road Marshfield, Vermont 05658
Thursday August 23 - Friday August 24, 2018
With a fresh, bold, eye on this traditional pattern making procedure, students will learn to layer a range of natural dyes onto a single piece of fabric. Pencil blue, indigo applied by brush, madder red, extracted from the roots of Rubia tinctorum and a warm yellow from weld, Reseda luteola can be applied and overlapped onto a single piece to create a rich, complex image, all from natural dyes! Students will learn how to prepare fabric and dye with each separate element in the process.
